Time Management for Moms

It seems with each passing day that I am ending up with more and more of “to do” items on my list and bigger responsibilities on my plate each day. And I don’t know about you but I’m a stresser when I don’t get what I feel is the “right amount” of items accomplished each day. And there’s nothing like having too much on my plate to make me drop the ball on everything.

This week I’m attempting to start my week with a new found attitude. Instead of letting Zadey go at breakfast in her highchair while I’m at the computer, I’m sitting next to her, at the table. I may not be hungry but this is quality time together.

Once per day, we’re going to take an outing. Walk around the block, hit the swings at the park, watch the fountain in the pool (she loves it), just do something. There are days we don’t get out and that sunshine is vital to the both of us.

Nap time has always been vital for me to work on my to do list that requires me to do a little more than scan through. So if there’s something important I’ve got to read and respond to I’ve been doing that during nap time.

I’m going to maximize my time here by keeping a schedule, I want to know what I’m spending all of my time doing exactly and what of the BS that I’m doing on the computer can be cut-out. Sure, I want to read everyone’s blogs, I want to network, I need to work on K&M Kreative Productions, and I need to respond to e-mails. But I can get through these tasks faster if I set time limits and focus on just that one thing at a time.

Dinner seems to be a huge issue in our house. It gets down to the wire for dinner and we’re still debating on what we’re going to eat. I so hate this. This debate and sometimes fight drives me insane and throws off my entire mood. So I’ve decided to write down a list of meals we’ve got ready to make and assign a day to them.

There’s no more debate if you can look at my list on the fridge and know that because tonight is Monday, our dinner tonight will be fettuccine alfredo with salad and garlic bread.

To better aide my ideas of getting more organized and maximizing my time, I turned to the Internet to find tips and tricks that other Moms are using to keep on track, accomplish their to-do list, and still spend quality time with their kids.

The best list I found came from iVillage. I’ll touch on their points and let you have a read yourself.
