Joanne & Katy On A Date
Tuesday night was Joanne’s night off from work this week. I was looking forward to Tuesday because I thought that perhaps we’d get some shopping done. There have been things I’ve been meaning to pick up and haven’t.
You know, new place to live means decorating and I sure do need to get that stuff done!
But shopping didn’t happen. Instead she tended to Zadey the ENTIRE DAY while sat at the computer and got some of my work done and caught up on business.
Somewhere around 5:00 PM we decided that we were going to leave the baby with Doug and Tish to go on a date. For Christmas we received a gift card from one of Steve’s friends and hadn’t used it yet.
A date night, it’s much needed.
I even arranged with Doug to be a designated driver so that while at dinner, Joanne and I could have a couple of drinks.
As I began to get ready for dinner the thought occurred to me… they are living with us, they will be here all night, would they baby-sit overnight so that we could have an all night date night?
What does it hurt to ask and so, I did to which they happily agreed.
Immediately I got on the phone with the reservations desk for the Stratosphere hotel and casino. We booked a room and got upgraded for free for being locals.
We kissed the baby goodnight and went off to our date with just a small overnight bag.
The night was fantastic. We checked into the hotel and then took a cab over to the restaurant where we enjoyed quite a nice dinner at a new place: Bahama Breeze.
Our food was fantastic, the drinks were strong, and the conversation was surprisingly adult! No child to tend to, just her and I like it was 6 years ago when we first started dating. It was a dinner that I remembered there was still something really major between the two of us.
After dinner we took a cab ride back to the Stratosphere. We had our private time together, dropped $5 into the slot machines (and I won $9) and slept oh so peacefully… until 10:00 AM!
It was really really awesome. It’s been so long since she and I have done something like that and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I treasured it.
To tell you that I love her is an understatement. It was good timing for a reminder of just how much I really do love her.
Finding the perfect wedding rings is becoming almost as difficult as finding the perfect gucci handbags. The parade of course begins with engagement rings. Then there are occasional pendants and bracelets.
