Decorating My Home

There is something about decorating my home and making my space my own that gets me inspired.

Being that I work from home, it’s even more important to me that my house it clean and looks nice. I’m looking at these walls everyday, I need it to feel comfortable, lived in, and warm.

When we moved back to Las Vegas from California, we got rid of a lot of furniture that had been staples in our house. The sofas we had for the last 4 ½ years we decided not to bring with us. Instead we purchased new ones.

Our entertainment center was given to Joanne’s ex-girlfriend and her new partner and the dresser that Joanne and I had was given away.

So decorating my home has been a huge priority for me and something that I didn’t do until we moved into this apartment in mid-December. Even then, because of Doug and Tish I felt that I really couldn’t do what I wanted to do.

However, one swift kick of them out on their butts and I’m free to finally make my house a home.

You see, for the second time in just a year, Doug has cheated Joanne. This is obscene for me if I allow that Doug and Joanne have only known each other for 2 years (since Doug left the Army and came back to California from Germany).

Needless to say, my brother is a jerk, always has been. Unfortunately, my sister Morgan is now stuck with his lies back in California… for the second time. And to make it worse, he’s got his new “wife” with him at his house.

So, regardless of the ugliness of that situation, I didn’t care. I feel free to do what I want in my home and besides walking around in a t-shirt and underwear, I wanted to decorate!

And that’s exactly what we have done the last few days.

Our sofa came without throw pillows so I purchased this very fluffy and super soft microfiber throw pillows from Costco. The beautiful art on the wall is a series from Target. And the rug I got an exceptional deal on at Anna’s linens. Since having it all come together over the last couple of days I have been walking around the living room thinking… “I can’t believe this is my living room.”

For Christmas my parents gave Joanne and I each a $50.00 gift card to Target. You know, it’s our favorite store and the employee discount helps too.

We decided to not go for individual gifts and pick up something we both wanted… so we went with a bed set.

After making the bed, Zadey had to be the first to test it out. It’s so beautiful. But I still have a lot to do to make our bedroom the way we want it to be. And even though we’re hanging pictures on the wall and picking up all the accents, I’m hoping that sometime next month I can talk my parents into coming just for a painting visit. This way I can have an accent wall in the living room, our bedroom, and Zadey’s bedroom painted. It’d be the icing on the cake.

It’d do it myself but I haven’t ever painted without my Dad’s help and I’m not sure that I’m any good at it.

I feel excited and empowered, all by the decorations in my home. It is what I look at all day long and the colors excite me, make feel at peace, and warm.

What works for you at home? What keeps you excited to look at the same space day in and day out and still love it like you’re seeing it for the first time?

Actually both gucci handbags as well as prada handbags are a good idea of wedding gift. Although gucci handbags have a higher frequency of being bought by brides, along with their necklaces & pendants and hot couture. The other designer handbags therefore stand a better chance of being appreciated.
